IMDA had announce on the requirement of import and sales of Short Message Service SIM BOX, below are the details:
SMS (Short Message Service) SIM Box¹, also known as GSM Modem Pools or SMS Gateway, have been found to have been misused by scammers to send scam SMSes to the public. Hence, IMDA is introducing new measures to regulate the sale of SMS SIM Boxes.
Please note that with effect from 17 August 2023, only Telecommunication Dealer's Individual Licensee can import, register and sell such SMS SIM Boxes to companies incorporated in Singapore. There is no change to the current processes on re-exporting of registered and non-registered SMS SIM Boxes. Dealer's Individual Licensees may still proceed with the re-exportation of such SMS SIM Boxes for overseas sale.
All Dealer's Class Licensees who have intention to manufacture, import, let for hire, sell, or offer or possess for sale SMS SIM Boxes are required to apply for the Dealer's Individual Licence from 17 August 2023. Existing Dealer's Individual Licensees who have intention to also register and sell such SMS SIM Box shall continue with the current equipment registration process prior to selling the SMS SIM Box.
