Bangladesh: BTRC mandates Wi-Fi Routers to support IPv6

2025-09-09

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has withdrawn its earlier directive (Memo No. 14.32.0000.500.46.001.24.000007160, dated November 7, 2024) on August 4, 2025, regarding the production and import of ISM band Wi-Fi routers in the country.

While the previous instruction is no longer valid, the regulator has introduced a new requirement: all Wi-Fi routers must support IPv6 technology.

This move reflects Bangladesh’s push to modernize its internet infrastructure and ensure long-term compatibility with global standards.
