The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Chile has issued Exempt Resolution N° 737 on May 13, 2025, exempting most short-range equipment (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee) from type approval requirements. These devices will instead require QR code marking, the resolution will take effect in February 2026. Formal certification will only be required for certain categories, primarily medical devices.
According to the Resolution, new low-power medical data acquisition equipment operating within the 430–440 MHz band is now included in the certification scope.
For exempted devices, manufacturers or importers are required to ensure that their products comply with emission regulations, submit a valid test report, and affix a compliant QR code linking to a Spanish-language website containing: commercial details, technical specifications, a declaration of conformity and the information on the manufacturer and, where applicable, the importer or representative in Chile.
