Recently BIS issued instructions to all empanelled testing laboratories regarding testing timelines and sample processing.

As per the latest directive, all laboratories have been advised to complete testing and issue test reports within 30 days from the date of receipt of the sample. In cases where the relevant Indian Standard (IS) specifies a testing duration exceeding 30 days, the same shall be followed accordingly.

Please note that any delay beyond 30 days (where not justified by the applicable standard) will be reviewed seriously, and appropriate action may be taken against the concerned laboratory.

In view of the above, manufacturers are requested to ensure the following while submitting samples for BIS testing:

Samples are submitted along with a duly completed CCL and all required certificates/documents.

The product label affixed on the sample is final and fully compliant with BIS requirements.

All technical details and specifications are finalised and aligned in advance to avoid delays during testing.
