India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has announced a three-month extension for the industry to comply with the new regulatory framework governing the 5925–6425 MHz band on April 4, 2026. The final deadline has now been pushed to July 6, 2026.
The 5925–6425 MHz spectrum is a critical lower 6 GHz band used globally to power next-generation Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 devices. Under the revised rules first introduced on March 6, India requires all devices utilizing this band to meet strict technical specifications and obtain equipment type approvals (ETA).
This 90-day extension provides much-needed relief to the tech supply chain. Manufacturers, importers, vendors, and service providers now have more time to test their products and secure official WPC certifications, preventing any product roll-out delays or import disruptions in the Indian market.
